THIS IS A HYBRID POSITION BASED IN SANTA ROSA, CALIFORNIA. SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL WORK OUTSIDE OF THEIR HOME OFFICE AT LEAST 50% OF THE TIME INCLUDING ONSITE IN SANTA ROSA OR ON SLT PROPERTIES IN SONOMA COUNTY.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Deputy Director of Philanthropy (DDOP) plays a key leadership role in supporting the Director of Philanthropy in the development and implementation of the organization’s overall fundraising strategy. The DDOP serves as the lead architect for Sonoma Land Trust’s (SLT) Major Gifts program and is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a personal portfolio of 50–75 major donors and prospects.

This position also oversees a three-person team responsible for planned giving, major gifts, mid-level gifts, donor relations, and events. The DDOP guides strategy and provides operational support to increase the effectiveness of the Philanthropy team, while collaborating with staff, board members, and volunteers to grow philanthropic support.

During capital campaigns, the DDOP works closely with the Director of Philanthropy, Executive Director, and board to secure leadership-level gifts including annual, multi-year, and planned giving commitments. This individual is a seasoned development professional with an entrepreneurial spirit and excellent relationship-building skills. The DDOP will engage with donors primarily in Sonoma County and throughout the North Bay region. LOCATION:

  • This is a hybrid position based in Santa Rosa, California.

  • Successful candidates will work outside of their home office at least 50% of the time including onsite in Santa Rosa or on SLT properties in Sonoma County.

SALARY/BENEFITS

Salary: $145,000-$163,000

Benefits include:
