Quantum Leap Healthcare Collaborative (QLHC), a 501c3 was established in 2005 as a collaboration between medical researchers at University of California, San Francisco, and Silicon Valley entrepreneurs. Their mission is to integrate high-impact research with clinical processes and systems technology, resulting in improved data management and information systems, greater access to clinical trial matching and sponsorship, and greater benefit to providers, patients, and researchers.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Quantum Leap Healthcare Collaborative is seeking an experienced Director of Grants, who will be responsible for an institutional funding portfolio managing private grants and public government contracts. The Director of Grants will prepare and submit grant applications and reports and federal and local government contracts and maintain and cultivate these funder relationships to help expand grants and contracts revenue.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Chief Development Officer and has no direct reports.

  • Salary range is $145,000-$165,000

YOU ARE

  • Experienced, organized and detail-oriented grant writer who is proficient in writing, tracking government contracts and private grants as part of a comprehensive grant management program

  • Proactive and planful, you build a strategy for all outgoing and upcoming grant applications and successfully execute all grant requests

  • Diplomatic relationship builder who will cultivate partnerships with funders, donors, internal team, Board Members, and other community stakeholders

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Write accurate and compelling grant proposals and LOI letters that conform to all requirements set forth by funding guidelines.

  • Organize and execute all outgoing grant applications to maximize fundraising potential in conjunction with the agency’s greatest needs.

  • Research and identify new foundation and corporate sources for funding.

  • Complete any required grant reporting as requested by the funder, CDO or CEO.

  • Maintain a detailed grant calendar to ensure all documents are submitted in a timely and strategic manner.

  • Ensure compliance with all fundraising restrictions and requirements.

  • Communicate with all departments in regards to pledged or received restricted funding, tracking of this funding and necessary reporting requirements.

  • Prepare budgets with the finance team and ensure that they are aligned with the relevant contract scope of work.

  • Input and analyze grant data.

  • Ensure timely acknowledgement of secured funding.

  • Attend staff meetings and grant information sessions.

  • Work alongside CDO to lead site visits with potential funders.

  • Attend networking or social events to steward relationships with current or potential funder.

  • Work alongside CDO to track corporate engagement and pursue financial contributions.

COMPETENCIES

  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in public or private grant writing, fundraising, or contracts

  • Bachelor’s degree  

  • Knowledge of the Bay Area funding community a plus

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills required

  • This position must be comfortable with a large volume of writing, as well as having a strong understanding of budgets and the ability to collaborate with colleagues on developing and managing budgets

  • Strong time management skills

  • Ability to present complex information in writing in a direct and appealing way to various audiences

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook

  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written

  • Possess strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
